Seasonal Raptor Closures go in effect TODAY
Hey friends, it's 1/31 and that means that the raptor closures in BoCan, Clear Creek and many OSMP and USFS climbing areas go in to effect today and tomorrow. Please respect the closures and check our closures page for a comprehensive list of closed areas and more info on our eagle monitoring program.

The mission of the Boulder Climbing Community is to care for the places that we climb, so we are stepping up our game during the government shutdown to provide resources to care for our national parks and lands.
As climbers, it is critical to use all Leave No Trace practice and our wag bag program is integral to that mission.
In lieu of the government shutdown, the BCC will be organizing a volunteer day this Sunday, 1/20 to distribute wag bags and restock existing bag stations in Rocky Mountain National Park at 4 different locations. We will be meeting at the Justice Center at Canyon & 6th Ave. to carpool up to Estes at 9 AM.

If you can't make it on Sunday, don't fear! We've set up wag bag distribution centers at Neptune Mountaineering and Rock and Resole. Please stop by, pick up a couple bags and distribute them to friends.
Since many bathrooms are closed it is critical to carry a wag bag and use it on all public lands, so whether you are going into Rocky Mountain National Park or the Indian Peaks Wilderness, please grab a bag and help spread the word!

REEL ROCK 13 is comprised of four films:
1) Age of Ondra: An intimate journey with one of the greatest athletes at his peak.
2) Up to Speed: An in depth look at the little known (in the US) sport of speed climbing which will be part of the 2020 Olympics.
3) Queen Maud Land: Six elite climbers journey to the remote frozen towers in Antarctica
4) Valley of the Moon: An adventure to sandstone walls in Jordan.
Beer will be available before, during, and after the film, provided by our always generous partners at Avery Brewing Company!

Come to Rocktoberfest at REI Denver! We are celebrating the Front Range Climbing Stewards (FRCS) who have been working hard building local climbing access for years. Avery Brewing is bringing the beer and all proceeds support FRCS (to be clear...drink beer to support climbing access and stewardship). Things to get pumped about: a 5.13 climbing comp (more details and registration link below), music by Discosapien, local beer from Avery Brewing Company, climbing vendors, awesome giveaways, and a presentation by pro-climber: Jonathan Siegrist.
This event is free to the public and we'll have an awesome vendor village with a silent auction (proceeds to the BCC/FRCS) and vendor clinics and giveaways. Boulder Canyon is at the forefront of local climbing stewardship. The myriad and mixed land owners have prevented previous erosion control work of any magnitude. But in 2016 FRCS put in a month of work at Plotinus Wall, which sits on USFS land. Since much of the climbing is on USFS land, this was a ground-breaking project that opens the door to much-needed work throughout the canyon.
Since then we have done a major crag inventory and have ranked them based to popularity and need (results below). During this process representatives of BCC walked and gathered GPS coordinates for many crag approaches in the canyon, and generated these awesome Boulder Canyon climbing maps (thanks Marty Petach and Roger Briggs for the big effort):
