Anchor Replacement Program 2021 Kickoff Campaign!

It’s a new year and the Boulder Climbing Community has big plans to make 2021 our most impactful rebolting year yet! This year the Anchor Replacement Program is planning to replace at least 500 old bolts in Boulder Canyon throughout the season! By the end of the year we plan to have crags like Avalon, Sherwood Forest, and Black Widow Slab fully equipped with bomber bolts and lowering hardware. We are building off the success of last year’s season and we need the climbing community’s help to achieve our goal!

In 2019, the BCC surveyed the local climbing community and you told us that anchor replacement was the most valuable program we have for protecting access to local crags. We heard you and have committed to making it a top priority for the organization in 2021 and beyond. We have invested in staff to create and run the Anchor Replacement Program, developed a top notch education curriculum for volunteers, and purchased a whole bunch of hardware!

Bolt replacement efforts at this scale aren’t cheap. The hardware costs alone are enough to make most climber’s hands start to sweat. Factor in staff planning and management time, tools, supplies, volunteer insurance, etc. and the total ends up being a pretty penny. The BCC has been extremely fortunate to work with a group of generous climbers to provide an initial investment for the 2021 season. Now we need the rest of the climbing community to come together and help us raise the final $10,000 in 2021.

If you believe that bolt replacement is a top priority in the Front Range, support the BCC’s Anchor Replacement Program.
