CALLING ALL CLIMBERS, ADVENTURE LOVERS, AND PARTY PEOPLE

Join us for the best and only climbing festival in Boulder and do good on top of it. Climbing is the common thread that connects us and brings us together and this festival is the perfect opportunity to celebrate in style with our community. With the money raised we’ll make sure that all of us can keep doing what we love most, climbing, by taking care of the Front Range crags and beyond. Already registered? Friday Evening

7:00pm-9pm – BCC House Party– Event Kickoff Party
Free beverages, beer, and food along with art, books, and more!

Saturday Morning

8am – BRC – Clinics Meet
All clinics meet at the BRC to carpool to their crags. Please arrive promptly at 8 am to meet your instructors, check gear, and start introductions before leaving for the crags at 8:30 am. Below, you can find more information on our clinics.

8am-9:30am – BRC – Shoe Demos with La Sportiva & SCARPA
Try on a new pair of climbing shoes, or loan a pair for the day to try at the crags.

8am-9:30am – BRC – Competition Card Pickup & Last-Minute Registration
Swing by the BCC table to pick up your competition card, or grab a last-minute Weekend Pass if the event is not sold out.

8am-11:00am — Flagstaff Mountain clean up (Folks will meet at Crown Rock Overlook at 8 AM.)

Saturday Evening

4:30pm-8:30pm – BRC – Block Party Bivy!
The main event of the evening! Join us for games, food, beer, prizes and more! Beverages from Uplsope and free pizza. More details in the individually scheduled activities below.

4:30pm-5:15pm — Yoga session with Prana

Join Prana at the BRC for some post-climbing stretching and relaxing!

4:30pm-7:30pm – BRC – Games & Vendor Village
Join us for climbing inspired games and shenanigans with all of your favorite climbing brands. Check out their newest gear and play to win with games like stick-clip fishing, bungee run, blind anchor cleaning, and the infamous BRC slide run.

4:30pm-7:30pm – BRC – Silent Auction & Raffle
Get some awesome gear at an awesome price! Support your local climbing organization AND take home something sweet.

5:30pm – BRC – Competition Sheets Due
Turn in your competition score cards to the BCC booth by 5:30pm to avoid a late penalty! Prizes for the top teams will be awarded at 7:30pm.

6:30pm – BRC – Award Comp winners
At 6:30pm we’ll award our winners of the Boulder Canyon Climbing Comp,

7:15pm – 8:00pm BRC – Prizes, Raffle, Final games

At 7:30 we will call the winners of the raffle, give out some swag and then keep the party going with crate stacking, more games

8:00-9:00pm — Dancing -Need we say more?

Sunday Morning

8am — 2pm — Sunday Stewardship-East Colfax Climbing area in Clear Creek Canyon in partnership with Golden Mountian Guides (folks will meet at the parking for East Colfax past tunnel 6)

Clinic Details

Already signed up for a clinic and need more details? Or unsure if you’re a good fit? Our clinics are taught by the fantastic folks at Denver Mountain Guiding, Golden Mountian Guides and Alpine to the Max.

Equipment Needs

Every clinic participant must bring:

  • personal climbing gear (helmet, harness, climbing shoes, chalk bag, belay device)

  • water + snacks and lunch for the day

  • backpack to carry your gear

  • first aid kits, if you have one (optional)

Some clinics also have additional recommended gear needs. It’s okay if you don’t have these items but please bring them if you can.

Multi-Pitch Rescue
All Clinics gear list + 6 locking carabiners, 4 non-locking carabiners, two 48 inch slings, one quad length sling or cordelette, prusik cord or hollowblock, six quickdraws, belay device (ABD and plaquette/guide belay device), rappel device, climbing rope (optional).

Women’s Trad Clinic
All Clinics gear list + any personal trad gear that you have,climbing rope (optional)

Intro to Multi-Pitch
All Clinics gear list + 6 locking carabiners, 4 non-locking carabiners, two 48 inch slings, one quad length sling or 18 foot cordelette, prusik cord or hollowblock, six quickdraws, belay device (ABD and plaquette/guide belay device), rappel device, climbing rope (optional)

Crack Climbing Seminar

What’s the refund policy for the event?
The Backyard Climbing Festival is a fundraising event and weekend passes are non-refundable. You may transfer a clinic spot to another individual. To transfer, please email Development@boulderclimbers.org.

This event will be held rain or shine, and all clinics will have a backup date if there is inclement weather. Saturday evening's party at the BRC will be held regardless!

How does the Boulder Canyon Climbing Comp work?

Is the event kid / family friendly?
Definitely! We have a discounted rate for kids age 6-16, kids 5 and under are free. Many of the games at the BRC on Saturday evening will be super fun for kids. Note, there will be alcohol present at the BRC on Saturday evening but excessive drinking will not be tolerated.
